Enervating public lighting workshop on Licht2014

Last September 22nd, the project Perception 3.0 has provided a contribution to the enervating workshop 'Weniger ist mehr' at Licht2014. Licht2014 is a biennial congress, held in The Hague. Combining acting, presentation and demonstration, Ellen de Vries from the Lux Lab, Stephan Völker from the University of Berlin and Harry de Haan from Elumint, representing Perception 3.0, conducted a workshop about the future of public lighting. Surprisingly, strong parallels were found between the research of professor Völker, the perception of the urban public space of Ellen and the perception study that is being defined by Perception 3.0. The most important unifying factor is that we are all in search of methods to prevent strong light sources from blinding the human eye and allowing overall light levels to be reduced. The presentation of Perception 3.0 can be found in the download section.

About Perceptie 3.0

The project Perception 3.0, an initiative from Rijkswaterstaat in partnership with the IGOV organization, aims to develop a valuation method that is capable of objectively measuring mental strain of motorists. This method will contribute to new innovative public lighting concepts and alternative solutions that facilitate improved perception. Recent developments in the field of eye-tracking bring this objective within reach.
